Hot Dip Galvanizing Lines
for the construction and white goods applications
Hot-dip galvanization is a widely applied method of protection of steel elements against corrosion. GEIT hot dip galvanizing lines are specifically designed for manufacturing top-quality strip products for construction, household appliances, exposed and non-exposed automotive applications.
The combination of outstanding mechanical equipment, furnace, air wiping, and post-treatment sections leads to improve the plant competitiveness, with excellent coatings for all the required steel grades, maximized production capacity, and less environmental damage.
It consists of four fundamental steps:
- Surface pre-treatment: consists of cleaning and pickling operations that free the surface of dirt, grease, rust and scale.
- Preflux: serves to dissolve any oxide that may have formed on the iron or steel surface after pickling and prevents further rust from forming.
- Galvanizing: put the immersing clean, oxide-free iron or steel into molten zinc in order to form a zinc coating that is metallurgically bonded to the iron or steel’s surface.
- Finishing: includes quenching, removing excess zinc and inspection
